🔍Reflection on the use of ICT educational tools in Teaching and Learning

ICT tools are the set of currently developed technologies that allow efficient communication of information, which have modified the way of accessing and receiving information. Its acronym stands for Information and Communication Technologies and today it is playing a vital role in the development of new educational policies and projects. 

In this module, we have learned that there are five tools in ICT, namely, information tool, communication tool, constructive tool, co-constructive tool and situating tool. These tools are essential and useful in teaching and learning in this modern era. For instance, in situating tools using simulations and games such as PHET stimulations, GraphCal will make the lesson more fascinating and engaging. Moreover, these tools provide opportunities for hands-on experiences, collaborative learning, and immediate feedback, thus making the learning process dynamic and interesting. 

In a co-constructive tool, we can use blogs as a discussion forum to discuss the issues and questions from their learning experience. In addition, teachers can understand the expectations of the learners, since children will share their views and opinions in their blogs. Nowadays, the use of black boards and chart papers no longer interests the learners. In this modern world, the learning resources and materials also must be according to the needs and lifestyles of the learners. Thus, teachers need to at least use PowerPoint presentations and video tutorials for their learners. Moreover, by using such tools, students will be able to give their attention in the class. ICT tools will build curiosity among learners, since every day would be a different experience. 

Most importantly, during difficult times like COVID-19, ICT was the major platform for teaching and learning. ICT is very friendly to use and we can access it from wherever and whenever we like. This friendly nature of ICT makes learning more convenient and comfortable. 

Lastly, the five ICT educational tools are a necessity for 5G learners. This is because, nowadays, students prefer computers and pads rather than notebooks and pencils. Therefore, teachers need to integrate the five interesting tools; information tool, communication tool, constructive tool, co-constructive tool and situating tool in our teaching and learning, which will foster the learning effectiveness of the lesson.
